As we draw to a close on Cyber Security Awareness Month, we are finishing with a bang: it’s time to act now.

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) have five quizzes to help you identify weak spots and learn what to do to act now and secure the digital environment for yourself and your team members. Give them a go yourself and pass the best ones on to your team to share the knowledge. If you have questions along the way, we are more than happy to help – you can reach us at helpdesk@docsol.com.au or 07 5528 6663. Now let’s get into these quizzes!

Update your devices

Quiz: Update your devices

Keeping your devices updated means they will always have the latest security patches installed. These are software fixes for any bugs or security weaknesses that have been discovered since the device’s release.

Turn on multifaction authentication (MFA)

Quiz: Turn on multifactor authentication

MFA makes it virtually impossible for a hacker to break into your accounts as adding an MFA step such as a texted code or biometric like a fingerprint brings their process to a halt. It’s a simple extra step that adds a whole lot of security to your accounts, devices, and systems. We cannot recommend this enough!

Set up regular backups

Quiz: Set up and perform regular backups

This one is a no-brainer… we’re sure you have heard this before: make sure to back up your work! Setting up a regular backup system is crucial to any business and comes in handy if any staff member accidentally deletes something, your data gets stolen or encrypted, or your device sustains physical damage making your files inaccessible.

Set secure passphrases

Quiz: Set secure passphrases

Passphrases are regarded as the most secure type of credential you can use to secure your accounts and devices. A passphrase is a combination of three random words stuck together. This format generally results in a long password that excludes common patterns and number substitutes making it far more difficult to crack than a regular password.

Recognise and report scams

Quiz: Recognise and report scams

This is the next step. After doing what you can to secure your environment, it is important to be able to recognise and report the scams you may come across. This allows you and your team to avoid falling victim, and by alerting the ACSC of the scam, you are helping our community recognise and avoid the same scam.
